This week we had the privilege to be a guest speaker on Engineering (STEM) for 60 very sharp first grade students at a local elementary school that is currently studying all about engineering. One of our Design Engineers, John Wendrick, presented on the process of how we develop our products at Match Grade Medical. “Our team works with doctors by taking their ideas and listening to their problems. We then design equipment that makes what they do easier and more efficient.” The class had some amazing questions at such an early age- “do you test these products before they are used?” asked one young lady and “are those 3-D printed?” by one we can only hope is a future engineer himself. We hope that by showing these kids the process it takes to design a structure or device we will help pave the way for future Engineers to develop what’s next. At the end of the day, we all learned from the experience and had fun doing so; we are definitely in good hands.
